Notice any squat when they mounted it?

I think they are 170 pounds, which is lighter than a Leer. A measured 1/2" of "squat."

Do you know off-hand if Smart Cap waiting for this from Toyota or an aftermarket supplier? I'm guessing if you get pulled over for this it's basically a warning after explaining you're awaiting parts?

It's definitely a Smartcap part, not something from Toyota. Once the hole is drilled in the bed, it's a five-minute plug-and-play.

Wiring harness came in.
It's from a 3rd-party manufacturer in South Africa.
Comments on the installation below.

Biggest pain was drilling the hole. Metal is thin there so the bit wants to grab and deform the surface.
2nd biggest pain was that the t-cable was soooo long. Ended up rolling it up and tying underneath instead of trying to cram it alongside the soft-opening strut for the tailgate.

Next was something I found disconcerting. After I did the initial hookup I propped a weight on the brake pedal, and no light! Turns out it only works when the engine switch is on.

Lastly, no grommet included for the hole. Naturally, I didn't have a 3/4 grommet in my boxes and boxes of stuff, so, a trip to the parts store and now I have 3 spares.

Am happy it's all done though.

Tony, Do you have the power tailgate? I would like to know if you can open the tailgate without opening the back hatch. My guess is yes otherwise if someone hit that button the hatch might be damaged... but I'm interested to know for use. Considering getting one this week.

I do. And yeah, you can hit the switch and the tailgate will open without opening the lid, but generally, it won't close with the topper door closed.

Rats. I really don't like having to unlock and lock the two latches every time I need something out of the tuck bed.
