4g Remote Start is HORRIBLE!

I was told app only by my dealer in Wisconsin. Found out about the fob method in the forum. They just want to sell the app. I’m 1/2 with the fob.

I'm in Canada. Starting off the key fob doesn't work at all. I asked the sales person about this and was told it doesn't work in Canada. Have to use the app, which always works. Be nice to have it work off the fob though. Any Canadians out there that manage to have the fob work?

I’m in Canada and the fob works just fine, from day one! Caveat there is… range! Truly terrible range! But yeah, the fob DOES work in Canada. Sales person who told you otherwise should know better!

Tested again, and managed to get it to work, had to be fairly close to the truck.

Hello there I am out here in bc and it works fine with me. I think it has to do with timing ....I was not getting it correct when I first got it

I think it has something to do if the truck is facing the fob or not. But I could be wrong.

Yes. As posted above, the timing is the trick. But mine works every time when I get the rhythm right. Press lock, watch for single flash of lights, press lock again, watch for single flash of lights, then press and hold lock until you see several flashes.

Is anyone else having issues remote starting with the key FOB. It starts fine every time with the Toyota App. However, trying to start it with the FOB is pointless. I have only been able to successfully do it three times in the nine months I have owned my truck. Am I missing something or doing something wrong here? Press lock button three times, holding it down on the third push until it flashes the warning it is starting.

Any tips or similar issues out there.

You are not alone, I feel your pain. I've given up and just use the app...which is not exactly flawless either.

From your other posts you should cut your losses, trade it in and buy a Tricycle...

I have found that sometimes it's slower than other times. Maybe 2 seconds to 10 seconds between when the lights flash. So annoying. I don't know if it has anything to do with how cold out it is or how recently it was started. I like to use the fob when I can so the seat warmers stay on. At least the steering wheel stays on with the app. I really don't want to pay for the remote start app if I don't have to, but Iowa Winters are brutal.

Mine works when I just look out the window at my truck and do it, but the issue I have is that you have to have the timing/rhythm of the button pushes JUST RIGHT. *click* *click* *HOLD* doesn't work for me. It's like *click* pause and wait for single flash on lights *click* pause and wait for single flash on lights *hold* It's so finnicky.

huh- let me try that. I can't get it to work either.
