I'll be the first in line when a larger tank is released. My old Tundra with the 36 gal tank could make it from FL to TN on a full tank, that's my goal with the Tacoma.

OP, I can drive from my home to Sonoma county, to Boron-on 1 tank of fuel, same as my gen 3 L4 AT Tacoma.. I don’t like doing it because the fuel pump is cooled by fuel. I guess I don’t see a problem with the mileage, but I also tend to drive without recruiting the turbo unless necessary- That is a 403 mile trip btw..

I like my 2024 Offroad a lot. I probably have the wrong tires on it, but they will be tested the next 48+ hours. After that I’ll assess whats next.

Hmmmnn...they do make trucks that use zero gas....if gas tank size and mileage is your thing
They do, personally like the Rivian over the Tacoma, however range takes a nose dive when loaded and/or towing. Recharge time is slow. Tank size is all about range for me.

The new Scout hybrid sure is intriguing though (500 mile range!) similar looking to the Rivian but better looking headlights/grill, definitely like their offerings over how Toyota did their truck hybrids. More practical usability than just a power boost.

Will they ever see production is the question.

Sometimes I wonder if they are putting smaller tanks/range in these trucks to get us ready for electrics. I personally like the idea that GM had with the Volt and is now being used by BYD which is using combustion engines as generators to move electric motors. I think BYD uses Diesel (which will probably never happen here). It's an excellent idea that would pave the way to replace the generator with a fuel cell, etc... as technology improves. If electric were better, I'd for sure go that way. You just can't put electricity in a can.

I am getting just as many miles per tank as my 2007 PreRunner
How many miles are you getting per tank?

Prerunners should do better than the 4WD. Guessing you’re on stock tires and unladen?

These trucks do “ok” in stock form for running around town. It is when you start putting on bigger tires, loading them down for traveling is when the small tank is going to be annoying. Toyota markets these trucks as adventure rigs, their slogan is “Let’s Go Places”, just don’t go too far. Ha!

My plan was 34” tires, pop up camper plus towing a small enclosed trailer. mpgs won’t be the best.

Wonder the same since they put the tank on the passenger side and did the wacky exhaust routing.

The new Land Cruiser 250 that shares the same chassis, gets a diesel in the overseas market, there is a DEF tank on the drivers side.

Could use that spot for an auxiliary tank in the Tacoma.
