Aux wires not getting power

Hello all,

I am trying to use the pre wired aux switches on my Tacoma sport. I am unable to get any voltage across the wires and have Ensured all fuses and relays are seated. Has anyone encountered this?

The instructions for the aux pig tails is god awful. It took me a few hours to figure out what was going on. Bear with me here and let me know if I need to re-explain some things...

You can have as many taps into your negative wire as needed.

In the 2 bags, you have 3 pigtails. One is a 4-pin with 4 wires, another is a 4-pin with 4 wires and the black wire is connected to a 2-pin, and the other is a 2-pin.

No matter what, you will use one of the 4-pin pigtails. You can either plug the 4-pin into the image above harness A (engine bay) or harness B (kick panel). If you want to use harness D, you must use use both the 4-pin pigtail connected to the 2-pin. If you want to use D, you have to plug the 4-pin into harness A and the 2-pin into harness C, that will provide power so you can use the 2-pin pigtail for harness D. For some stupid reason, Toyota used the pinout for the 15amp to the rear, so you may have to rewire the connector if you don't need a 15 amp circuit.

For Aux 1 (15amp) you use the black wire as your positive (+), black/white as your ground (-)
For Aux 2 (10amp) you use the green wire as your positive (+), black/white as your ground (-)
For Aux 3 (5amp) you use the white wire as your positive (+), black/white as your ground (-)

Here is the 4-pin pigtail plugged into A. The only wire I'm using is the black 15amp circuit and the black/white ground.

If you want to send voltage to D, plug your 4-pin-to-2-pin harness (be sure to remove the cover first):

Looking for power to my ham radio and figured the aux switch would be easiest. Besides, I can't get the clips off the rear seat to access the 12b battery under the seat in the Trailhunter...notcthe hybrid battery.

If I understand you, I can just use the 4pin aux pigtail at aux 1 for my power and ground wires from the radio?

I've had the kick panel off twice now and cannot figure out where to plug in the 4 pin Harness. There's one black connector near the bottom. Is there a dummy cover on it that I just can't figure out how to remove to plug in the pigtail?

Never mind all this. AUX switched only have power with the truck on. I often have the ham off after shuting off the truck. Will just hard wire the ham radio to the battery.

You are awesome, was seriously going insane trying to figure out why the rear plug didn't have power. Shame on the folks that wrote the owners manual!

Hey there! I'm thinking of installing chase lights and just want to check if what I have planned is correct. Chase lights are linked below. Planning to connect them to the plug D under the bed. Also, the light kit I bought comes wired with relays, and a fuse.

So, since my TRD off road comes pre-wired, can I simply cut the lighting kit wires to remove the relay and fuse, and directly connect them to the D harness?

And do I have to also connect the 4 pin to 2 pin harness on plug A to send power to the back plug D?

I have them all plugged in and I have the truck running with a test probe to ground and none of them work. Scratching my head.

I just went though this today. They only powered on with the engine running. I was hoping they would run in Accessory mode, but they don't.
