I am thinking that might be the best way to go too.

I am going to add the Beat Sonic amp and hope it lets me tolerate the JBL system until I can basically just do the whole thing over. That is the only way that I can see to really fix what JBL screwed up. Having worked for contracting companies I also know that JBL might have known this was a turkey, but they had to built what Toyota wanted.
That’s exactly what I did. The best sonic improved it enough that I can wait a year when hopefully there are more installation shops with experience working and improving the 4th gen speaker systems. There are only a couple sub boxes that I know of right now that have been designed to fit the under seat area.

I know of the Ground-shaker box, what’s the other one?

It is good to hear that the beat sonic worked as a temporary upgrade. I have talked to a couple of local shops and they are not yet ready to tackle the JBL system. I always did my own installs, but I think I will let someone with experience build me a sound system that I can love. Until then the Beat Sonic is the best bandaid that I have come up with. Sometime next week I should get it installed and I have my fingers crossed.

My front door speakers sound like they are getting a sub-woofer feed. Only bass coming thru. Back doors have mids/uppers like the dash speakers.

Its been a while since i had to mess with a stereo but that's not normal is it?

Would the Beat-sonic change that ?

When i adjust the balance to the rear, the sound gets muddy.
With the Beatsonic 'yes' the front door speakers do produce a very punchy bass, but when you hit lower frequencies you can really hear the sub in the back kick in.

I really do recommend upgrading the rear door speakers to these..(they run at 2.3 Ohms)

I ordered the Beat Sonic.
I have trouble seeing how a simple amp could compensate for such a stupid design but based on the feedback im hearing it might get me past the thing that annoys me most about this truck.

These engineers... They could have put in a normal mid-range stereo without all the extra cost of doing this goofy setup. Like Freak said above - offer an upgrade from "premium" to deluxe. Better for all consumers - better for Toyota.
You won't regret it. Beat-Sonic is great!

Thanks for that link. I'm guessing that you have installed these?

Are the the same bolt pattern and connectors as the OEM JBL rear speakers? Do you hear some sound in the front from them? That might help to downplay that removeable speaker.
Not the same bolt pattern. You will need wire and speaker adapters.
