Yes, you can use the step with tailgate down. It's offset to the right. I like mine and use it.

Here's a pic I just snapped for reference. The grab bar is something I've had for a few years and can't recall where I purchased. I have bad knees and it's helpful.

Very useful accessory. I just installed mine. It wasn’t very complicated other than not stripping the self tapping screws.

Very useful. Easy to step on the edge to pull down and easy to kick back into lifted position. When down, it sits just to the right of the open tailgate. I forget the exact numbers but in some other post 3 reported the height from step to bed and from ground to step (at least on Ltd trim).

Install is 15ish minutes, with tightening the final bolt the most annoying (can I lay access from the side, so when it tells you to install the first bolt with slack to hang on, play with getting it to as little slack as needed to save you time at the end.

Yes, I recommend not torquing the small screws into the step to the full torque that they call out. It is a bit too much.

That way probably with the extra holiday savings. You would need to wait for the accessories to go on extra sale.
