Hi all,

I just got an update email from Carista about some new features available in release 8.8. Like others, I bought and used the Carista device to make some customizations, but I did not pay for any extended licensing. In other words, I had the 30 days or whatever you get when you buy the product, and then let it lapse. I am wondering, has anyone with a working Carista license updated to this new version or plans to, and if so can you comment on which of these features is available to use in the '24 Tacoma? Some of them are obviously not applicable since we have no third row seating, but I'm curious which of these are possible. Thanks!

Toyota Customizations:
  • Seat belt warning ding (third row center)
  • Seat belt warning ding (third row left)
  • Blind spot monitor
  • Remote-start PreA/C activation from remote via...
  • A/C recirculation exhaust sensor sensitivity
  • ECO Drive indicator in head-up display
  • Image distortion correction in heads-up display (HUD)
  • Automatic headlight adjustment to vehicle in front
  • Daytime running lights
  • Interior footlight brightness control (bright when doors open, dim when driving)
  • Auto lock doors when shifting into gear
  • Activate power saving when key is out of range...
  • Max number of consecutive lock/unlock cycles via touch sensor
  • Smart key location setting to start car
  • Mute Intelligent Clearance Sonar (ICS) beep with no obstacles detected
  • Open trunk lid with remote
  • Rear hatch open/close with "one motion"
  • Rear hatch remote press
  • Panoramic sunroof light control glass memory

Yeah, there are a bunch of new customizations. When I plugged my Carista in this morning to do something else it took a long while to update the available customizations for my truck. Then I got the email and now I understand why it took a long time to load.

Nice to see Carista updating and developing their reader and I am super happy with it so far.

Anyone figure out the setting where the touch on the driver's door handle is first touch unlock driver door only, second touch unlock entire vehicle? I cannot figure out how to get it to expectation like pressing unlock would do (first press driver only, second press entire vehicle).

Would also love for them to figure out how to remove audio options (hide Sirius, hide apple music, hide amazon music...)

I found it, I believe in the Carista options, but I could be wrong. Mine is set so that a quick touch unlocks the driver's door only, and a longer one unlocks all doors.

I would like the brake hold to be active so I don't need to hold my foot on the gas. So I don't need to hit the button everything I start the truck
This Tacoma is the 2nd vehicle I've had with the Autohold feature, both are enabled the same way. I don't foresee any type of software update for this as it's more than likely a safety feature.

My wife's new 25 Honda Pilot has "latching" brake hold. Meaning once it's set it remains that way until you change it. So not a safety issue, just a choice (poor)Toyota made.

Interesting, haven't seen one like that before. Good to know though!

This isn't what you're asking for but you can set it to unlock all doors when grabbing the handle in the infotainment screen. Not quite the same solution but way less of a pain when you frequently travel with more than yourself.

Agreed. My wife's '20 Volvo V60 has the hold feature permanently enabled.

Is there any concern about Toyota voiding warranty after making adjustments using tools like Carista? I would definitely like to turn off the seatbelt chime and a few other things but would hate to have Toyota using this as an excuse to void potential warranty things down the road.

@Burgi That should not be a problem. The Carista can only change things that Toyota allows, but requires you to have done by a dealer. If a setting would void your warranty it would never appear in the list Carista generates.

It's not two separate touches, like other Toyotas- it's a long hold- it's supposed to be three, feels more like 6.
