Dongar PRO (Parking Mode Dash Cam Adapter) Development Updates

How were you able to enter into parking mode recording? What settings do you have turned on in your dash cam and which setting did you set the Donger to? Also, do you mind finding out what your firmware version is and let us know?

Mine keeps recording continuously at full 4k as if the car is on. It's taking up so much memory space that it can only store the last 6 hours at a time.

I didn’t do anything particular, just relied on the inactivity timer that VIOFO says all their cams have, but doesn’t recommend.

My Dongar Pro is on the “T” setting. Dashcam firmware is VIOFO_A329_V1.0_241009. Screenshot of my settings and videos recorded from my wife’s workplace parking lot below.

This is interesting... I've tried everything and can't get any files to show up in the parking folder... Maybe an update?

I have the 2024 Taco OR with the Dongar Pro and the Viofo A129 Plus F+R. I did not use the app to setup my camera, everything was done on camera. I set the Dongar to the center (continuous) position and the Viofo was able to get parking footage in the parking folder. I set the Viofo to auto detect in parking mode via G-sensor & motion sensor.

I parked in my garage overnight and when I went to get the car next day the only footage I got was when I approached the vehicle.

Thinking of getting a Nextbase dash cam with the Dongar pro. Anyone have experience with one, or issues with Nextbaae I should be aware off?

Quick updates:

Whining USB Modules
For anybody who had a "whining" USB module-I have fixed units where we've revised some of the internal components. Please send an email with your order number to my CX guy at [email protected] to get a replacement USB module. Unfortunately if you're a new customer buying a new unit, we can't guarantee you'll receive a fixed unit because all of our inventory is held at 3rd party fulfillment warehouses and Amazon and they're all mixed up. But we will replace any "whining" USB modules.

BlackVue Cables
I have 2 BlackVue USB-C cables if anybody already purchased a BlackVue and wants a free adapter cable(these were r&d samples... we're releasing these soon in retail packaging). Drop me an email.

@Dongar I have the Dongar pro in my 2024 TRD Off Road. Camera is the Nextbase 422gw. In parking mode when I come back to my truck often the dome lights are on. How can I fix this? I attached pic of the pro wired in my truck.

Dome lights turn on automatically when you get close to your truck with the smart key... Maybe that's what's happening

@Kjc good to know, I never noticed it before. I’ll check it out by approaching the truck without the key fob. Thank you man.

A few updates on our latest Dongar PRO build:

-a real instruction manual is included
-the length of the wire harnesses is improved
-the 5-pin harness is now male+female (in case you want to add a second adapter or even the OEM toyota dashcam in-addition to the Dongar) but also makes it easier to use most for Camry owners for an irrelevant reason
-the adhesive on the mount is a slightly different shape(and easier to remove the protective backing... it was a common complaint)
-Improved electronics: there was a slight harmonic hum in the low power (500-800mA). Changed a couple parts
-Removed 12-pin harness (3rd gen Tacoma)

FYI the new box looks like this with the yellow banner up front and instruction manual inside. The new units are available from our webshop--no ETA on when Amazon will cycle through to the new units.

Love your products!

I know this might be slightly off-topic for the Dongar PRO and it isn't a great business idea... but it would be really cool if you had a stateside supply of the 90980-12366 5pin connectors w/leads available that didn't require ordering from somewhere like AliExpress.

I almost bought one of the Dongar products just to cut the connector off as I didn't need the buck converter/dongle for a particular project, only the connector and leads.

Would have loved to support your business -- even with a significant markup. Especially with stateside shipping speed
