What’s up all, just finished up this easy mod to extend the rear axle breather lines.. The factory vent is a joke, it will do its job well, but only if water doesn’t get over the top of the chunk. I shopped the ARB brand extension kit, as well as online knock offs. I’m sure they work great, but since the front diff, t-case, and tranny are already vented up pretty high, I opted to only do this for the rear.
The nipple and vent came from Amzon , the 5/16” fuel line and clamps, from the local hardware store. 8’ of line did well. Ran the hose out of the way of any moving parts and zip tied in a neat fashion. Terminated behind passenger taillight. Good to go.
Also added this cool hitch slider thingy.

I will add this to my list of good things to do. I used that fitting to extend the breathers on my Gen1 4Runner. The barb fitting is a Toyota part. I harvested mine from 22re engines. It's the barb fitting off the plenum to the brake booster (IIRC), 90404-51319, ~$13.

Fortunately, I have a stash of those fittings.

Thanks for write up! I’ve had the parts to do this for a couple months. I’ll likely do it when I swap the winter tires out next month.

Was it difficult to remove the taillight?

I know generations are different, but on my old 2010 SR5 BOTT, I ran the rear diff breather up into the gas cap area using Camry lines and fittings.

No. Two 10mil bolts, and two plastic clips. Pretty much fell out
