National Trailhunter Club - Any interest?

Hello Folks,

I’m looking to start a national Trailhunter club for purposes of organizing and hosting events on at least an annual basis (those events being open to EVERYONE).

My intention, if there is interest, would be to legally organize a club as a 501(c)(7) entity. This would allow us to negotiate (on behalf of all the members) licenses with Toyota for the use of logos, rent spaces, purchase group passes to national parks, etc. It would be supported by a nominal membership fee.

The first event would be a Trailhunter meet somewhere “central” — probably Colorado or Utah —this Spring (open to any Toyota owner).

I have a buddy who is a lawyer at Toyota and I’m getting the wheels turning on someone from Toyota possibly coming out to meet us etc (he told me Sheldon is not likely but a rep is possible). They may also be interested in licensing us the right to use their logos with restrictions for $1.

Anyway, before I go down this rabbit hole, please tell me if you’d be interested in joining (and me creating) a national Trailhunter club. If there’s interest we can go from there on next steps.

This would be great for you trail hunter guys, its cool to connect with like minded guys, .Myself im a TRD Offroad guy, i really dont go hard core off roading, but i live in woods off the grid so thats my offroading lol
Great idea to get this going , i think a few months ago there was a group of guys 7-8 that did a get together , picture as group , i never heard much after that …i hope you guys make this happen.

Perhaps. I've been a member of the TLCA (Toyota Landcruiser Association) for decades. They too accept all Toyota trucks. Interesting about your Toyota contact. Toyota has recently been giving TLCA a hard time about the use of Toyota.

I think this idea could be a total flop because there are like 12 trailhunter owners in America … I’ll give it a few more days but so far not much of a response - perhaps a general 4G club is better

I would be more likely to be involved if it weren’t a legal “club”. Drop the the 501 designation, drop the dues, and let it be what it is.. just some dudes that like Tacomas and want to go wheeling/camping and talk about trucks, etc.

I’m not on your invite list.. my opinion is irrelevant.

It’s not an invite list at all. Otherwise I would have sent a direct message. I was listing as many people as I thought may be interested and whom I could remember. I actually thought I added you specifically (and I just added you now for good measure). I talked about the idea with @Lets_Taco_Bout_It and we thought we’d propose the idea to everyone. He wants to get a license to use logos so I thought let’s make it official with a legal entity which I can do pretty easily and I like the idea of a central entity that is able to act on behalf of members. I think this is the second time I offended you without any intention whatsoever of doing so (the first time I think I sent you a message trying to clarify and I got no response). If you don’t believe my intentions or don’t liken the idea of a club, I’m not sure what to tell you, other than there was zero intention to exclude anyone and you don’t have to like the idea. Not everyone likes every idea. That’s why I made a poll, where you indicated you didn’t like the idea. That’s fine.. I’m just into organizing stuff and it was just an idea.
