Valid questions. We have been designing and manufacturing Hood QuickLIFT systems for over 22 years, so we have some experience. Our system does not put any undo stress on the hood causing any potential buckling. If you look at the current Tundra, the OEM hood strut geometry is VERY similar to ours.

SARTACO's truck is still in Portland... no idea why and its crickets from his dealer so far. You guys expect a lot from hood struts, but maybe they will be the fix to release a flood of Trailhunters.

So I have the Cali Raised LED ditch lights, not yet installed. Did anybody mount ditches, and did you need a longer bolt as mentioned above?

I like this version a lot, especially not needing to drill anything like the RC version. There is one thing causing me to pause about these, though. The attachment point to the hood is so far back that it must require a decent amount of force to hold up the hood causing an equally decent amount of force to pull it down. With the pivot point so far back combined with the force to pull down, I would wonder about potential buckling in the future. I've seen it before when these types of aftermarket struts came out. That said, things have changed a lot since then with lighter hoods needing less force than they would have in past years. All of that has probably been solved by now, but my mind can't help but go straight to "what if" sometimes. Experience, no matter how outdated, can't just be thrown out without at least some consideration when thinking about a brand new product. I can be very gentle with it but I do not trust the maintenance monkeys to do the same.

I’d check out Chloe Kip’s one handed open and install video. Looks to be very easy to open; no shots of closing but using deduction from how easy they open…

These were very easy to install and took me, maybe 15 to 20 minutes total start to finish. The elite version works like a charm, I highly recommend them.

I got around to installing mine today, easy and great instructions. One question I have is, the hood has to close pretty hard it seems. Before I’d just drop the hood and the weight would close it.
This is normal I hope. I didn’t do anything else.

Also they lift the hood higher than the prop rod, also normal I think.

While I have to push the hood down a bit to close it now, I wouldn't say the force needed is excessive. I would consider it similar to any other hood I have had in the past. The only clang I hear is the hood latch engagement when closing. On my vehicle, at least, none of this has caused any concern. Unfortunately, not being there, I don't really know what you are dealing with. You might reach out to Redline if you think something is wrong, they seem to be pretty responsive.

I had no change in force to close and latch. Just that you have to give a quick downward push/pull and can't just do a big gravity drop.
I actually love how much they open up and that once I'm about 12" open, they'll go the rest of the way up without assistance. The quick flick down I have to give for the latches to set is light enough I don't even think about it.

I also just installed this hood prop. No unusual concerns here. Packaged well, very detailed instructions, and very easy to install. I would recommend Redline Tuning in a heartbeat . Great product.

Just ordered this weekend. I’ve had these on several vehicles and Redline Tuning Customer Service is top notch.

Trailhunter stock hood hinge bolt is 8mm x 20mm. CaliRaisedLED Ditch Light bracket is 4.76mm thick; Redline Strut bracket is 3.38mm thick, for a total of 8.14mm. So a "corrected" bolt for my TH would need to be 28.14mm long.

I purchased longer bolts in both 8mm x 25mm and 8mm x 30mm with a washer to make it close to perfect. Will see which works the best.
