So my Tacoma came with the OEM Tonneau cover and I do like. I just have a question. When opened it leans against the rear window, which is by design based on the pads that are on the cover. Has anyone had issues with it damaging the window? Or is this generally safe?

I have not seen any issues about this on the forums or Facebook. So I would say it's fine.

Mine leans against the cab when I open it, but has the support rods that can be connected which pull it off the cab if I need to drive anywhere with it opened up so it's not rubbing against the cab or vibrating.

If you're going to drive with it open then you should use the prop rods and they should hold it off the window/cab. When I'm not driving, I just let it lean against the window and I haven't had any issues.

Honestly I feel like the prop rods are to hold it against the window, not support the whole weight of the cover being up.

The props on mine keep it off the rear window when I'm driving as well. Most of the weight is being supported by the bed itself, so I don't think there will be an issue with them being overloaded. The props just keep it from flopping down from the wind. I really like this bed cover so far, and I've had it for a few months now. No issues, but the props can be a bit of a pain to disconnect from the cover sometimes. That would be my only minor gripe.

A question related to the OEM trifold bid cover.

Has anyone bought one and installed it on a 4th gen which didn't come with one? Toyota says that it might not fit my truck and my dealers says it is a port option only and they can't order it. I have other good options but a lot of owners seem to really like it so I wanted to consider it.

My truck did not come with the trifold cover. I bought the cover separately from a local Toyota dealership and installed it myself. No issues. Ask them to print off the instructions for you because the package does not include them. They've also been posted on here in other threads but my local dealer had no issue with printing a copy off for me.

It will fit your truck. The only truck it won't fit is the Trailhunter because of the bed rack thing.

Like bigd9247, mine didn't come with one. I ordered one thru the dealer but had them install it. It fits perfectly, works great. It does not seep water down the folds and into the bed like my Gen 3 cover did. The prop rods have worked fine when holding up the cover as designed.

Perfect! That is exactly what I needed to know @bigd9247, @Kdbradley85, and @Dirt. I will track one down - my dealer's parts department seems to more confused than normal for a Toyota dealership. lol The next time I'm there I will ask them to check, because that answer might just been them blowing me off. I'm sure they are available online too. Does anyone know what the PN is? What I have found on the Toyota site is PT954-35240, but the fit guide only lets you select the Limited trim.

I'm still looking but this one looks good to me right now.

Thanks for the input.

Yes, that's the correct part number. Lots of info here:

Do you guys get water in the bed when its raining ?
I'm pretty disappointed how wet it gets in there.

I get one little drip from the seam of the panel closest to the tailgate. Hard to describe, but if you're standing at the tailgate and fold the first panel open it's that seam that has very small drip. I haven't tried to see if there's a fix. Maybe there's debris blocking the water from flowing to the edge but it's a very minor drip... just a small wet spot after a good rain.
