Given the obviously hot topic, I'm hoping to stick some at least more-easily-referenceable, if not necessarily robustly-scrutinized, numbers to it.

Hopefully the options are close enough to exhaustive and mutually exclusive. If you pick one of the top options today, and encounter trouble later, feel free to come back and update your selection.

No problems from my transmission and I'm at 11k miles. I had a few rough shifts at the beginning but everything smoothed out once the computer learned my driving style.

It looks like debris is causing the solenoids to fail. If that's the case then it will be a sudden failure without a bunch of symptoms leading up to the failure. Also if it is debris, the failure should happen pretty early on. Seems like all the failures happen within the first couple thousand miles.

I think a lot of people are too concentrated on the TSB that they make themselves believe something is wrong with their truck. It's a body on frame pick up truck. It's going to be a bumpy ride with vibrations and shudders here and there.

Seems like there needs to a whole section of this forum dedicated to transmissions as there is a new thread on it every day...
With a sticky post that points out it will likely be smoother when warmed up just like I know competitors' transmission are too.

I was just warming up my truck, backed out of my driveway, put it in gear, and as I took off, I felt big “Slam”. I thought the back seat was open and dropped closed. Truck drove completely normally. Back seat could have been in the up position and slammed closed as I moved forward, but wanted to see if that sounded familiar to anyone.

what's with this poll? 3 of the 4 answers are skewed towards a "yes". In particular, i like the 2nd one that is a clear "no" but is worded to make it look like a "yes".

way to be unbiased.

Sorry for my already-admittedly non-scientific method...?

Can we agree that the lower two cases collectively cover "definite yes", the top case is "definite no", and therefore some kind of middle ground for uncertainty is warranted? If anything, I was concerned that the middle case skews too much toward a "no" ("I [do not think that] I've experienced any problems...").

I don't think anyone here is a statistician. 😂. The poll is interesting as far as a forum goes. Toyota can do the heavy lifting.

<——- Statistician….took 4 stats courses in undergrad and graduate degrees. This survey contains elements of quantitive and qualitative stats. He could assign a range of values for each answer and start doings maths to answer questions of the data.

I only do math things when nobody is looking.

I think that just the comments are biased, but most people who vote are not having problems or don't know? I think if you don't know you are probably fine. So I think a good majority are not having problems and are even probably undercounted in this poll.

That still doesn't make it easier when your truck is one of the problem transmissions though and Toyota needs to fix those trucks quickly.
