I called my dealership yesterday (Feb. 10, '25) and the service advisor told me that there wouldn't be a fix until Q2 of 2025.
In the meantime, I've got a handful of trips planned to take the truck on trails here in Michigan, so if i lose a brake line from some ice, I'll just have it towed and cross my fingers they provide an adequate loaner lol
I think you’ll be fine. I’ve been in some nasty stuff and never had a problem at this point. I think it’s probably an extreme example

Yea really poor design from the start. I have a Coast to Coast and back run starting the first of August. Hope they get this squared away before then.

So long as that coast to coast trip isn’t in deep mud, you should be good. Recall specifically mention certain off-road conditions. Like I said, I’ve been in some sketchy places and in some mud and never had an issue.

Not mud and ice only, driving up and down gravel roads here the back of the rims on all vehicles build up with fine dust packs in like cement, and parkinsons on the steering wheel sets in, need to clean often

Toyota is recalling certain 2024 Tacoma 4-wheel drive trucks with 16-inch brakes and 17-inch wheels due to a brake hose issue. The recall affects vehicles in North and South America, as well as other regions.

What's the issue?

  • The rear brake hoses may need to be replaced because they could be defective

What will Toyota do?

  • Toyota dealers will replace the rear brake hoses at no cost to customers

How can I check if my vehicle is affected?

  • You can check if your vehicle is affected by:
    • Visiting Toyota.com/recall
    • Visiting nhtsa.gov/recalls and entering your vehicle's VIN or license plate information
    • Calling Toyota's customer support line at 1-800-331-4331

That's the reason the dealer won't give me my 2024 OffRoad.... I have to wait until April or June....

I have a manual Off-road, app said that there is a recall for it but the dealership told me that it's not applicable... I am guessing it's because they really haven't gotten any directions from Toyota.

FWIW on how the human brain works.

When I read this news I was in the Loveland ski area parking lot waiting for my passengers to finish a post-skiing beer before dropping them off at a hotel by Denver airport. That's more than a mile descent on I-70.

I had to drill deeper and assess because we just spent a week of heavy duty use with unpaved driving too. The pickup truck was covered in grime. Visually there's dirt but nothing that looks threatening.

On those long descents I thought of my long ago truck driving, fleet maintenance days and our antique car. It's not really a new problem in automotive stuff. There used to be stainless braided lines available. I can imagine something along those lines as the future repair.

With Toyota's reputation for standing behind products and customers I also considered they did not give a stop use warning as sometimes occurs with recalls.

The Hybrids have a larger rear diff and brakes (13.2" rotors vs 12.2" - not sure why Toyota refers to them and 16/17" brakes). The brake line routing on the hybrids is different. They may work with 17" wheels. Non-hybrids, even Sports that came with 18" wheels, have the brakes with the odd brake line routing.

I drive off road in mud and gravel all the time and I've yet to notice a problem. The wheels can get caked with mud, but I've never had them build up so much that it looked to be a problem with the brake lines. When I get much build up on my wheels it's very noticeable at speed because the wheels are unbalanced. I'm always careful about washing out the wheels or in the worst cases using something to chisel out bigger chunks of mud that are really stuck. I'll be happy to see the fix roll out but I'm not concerned about it in the meantime.

The stock wheels on my T-100 were horrible that way. Several times I had to get a stick and push some of the mud off to make it drive able or it would feel like a Jeep Death Wobble.

... if there is a leak they will tow it and get me into another vehicle until the repair is complete.
Worthless suggestion from Toyota, and the dealer, if I'm on the Dempster Highway and the horrific mud on that road takes out my brake line.
