- ‘24 Tacoma TRD OR
I’ve hit pot holes much larger than this and no issue. Seems like a bad batch of shocks if you ask me.

Less of an engineering fail and more of a bean counter fail. The halos have a different design, and I don't think any have failed yet.
But seeing this on any Tacoma trim is an amazing fail for an engineering powerhouse like Toyota.
That's a real bummer! You could check around, maybe someone is selling their used TRD OR suspension after upgrading and you could replace your own coilover faster than the dealer. Alternatively, any of the aftermarket coilovers (Icon, Fox, King, etc) will completely replace the top hat and solve the issue.Been 5 weeks now and no info yet on part availability. Toyota Canada has now got me into a Ram so I still have a truck. The real problem is that I'll be getting the same top hat that just broke. This truck is not a pavement princess and I fear I'll be back in the dealer shortly with the other side blown..
Anybody have ideas for suspension upgrades that will be more resilient?
Same, got the reinforcement kits as soon as they came out. It's super disappointing that this is something some of us feel is necessary for a $50K plus offroading vehicle. That's a real bummer! I'm running the Icon top hat reinforcement kit on my TRD OR to hopefully prevent a top hat failure.
100% agreed and unacceptable.Same, got the reinforcement kits as soon as they came out. It's super disappointing that this is something some of us feel is necessary for a $50K plus offroading vehicle.
Would be good to get a 2025 confirmation2025 4runner top hats are steel. I wonder when/if they'll phase those into the tacos.
Do you know if this is on all 4Runner trims? Steel top hats have been on some 4th gen Tacoma trims from the start.2025 4runner top hats are steel. I wonder when/if they'll phase those into the tacos.
Based on this video by TRD JON, looks like his 4runner is a TRD ORP with the stock red bilsteins.Do you know if this is on all 4Runner trims? Steel top hats have been on some 4th gen Tacoma trims from the start.
Cool, because that is the problem trim for Tacos. Now Toyota needs to issue a TSB for that so people can get the cast ones on Tacomas replaced. Hopefully all the 2025s have the stronger top hats, although I have not heard whether that is true or not.Based on this video by TRD JON, looks like his 4runner is a TRD ORP with the stock red bilsteins.

Agreed. I also installed the icon reinforcement kit. My TRD OR bottoms out over speed bumps at 15mph my 20 year old Lexus sedan can blow over at 30mph. I really like my truck overall, but I’m pretty disappointed in the front suspension on the off-road.Same, got the reinforcement kits as soon as they came out.
