i have a 2024 Tacoma OR that was purchased in September. I have about 3500 miles on it to date. I currently get 19.2 mpg in town and 21.2 mpg on the hwy. when I was going through the break in period the mpg was all over. As I drove it more the mpg improved to what I listed above.

I live in Los Angeles and get 13.9 avg with 6k miles on the OD. The only time I see >20mpg is long highway trips with no traffic.
I’m in a busy city with a lot of traffic as well. For the record I really like my truck overall, not hating. But my city mileage is brutal. On a long hwy trip I can get 24-25mpg at 70mph but shorter trips in town or in traffic and I’m looking at around 13mpg, sometimes as low as 10mpg. I’m not heavy footed and drive this truck easier than any vehicle I’ve ever owned. I used to have a Mazda 6 that stated up to 38mpg hwy and I’d regularly get 42-43mpg in that car and drove it a lot harder. It coasted when foot came off gas. I feel like my truck breaks when I release the gas pedal it slows down so fast. Stock TRD OR.
My computer is usually pretty close to my manual calculations.

I solved my fuel economy issue...

I bought a 22 Corolla SE with over 40 mpg and 500-mile range on 10-gallon tank.

Buying a truck for fuel economy, seriously.
Didnt buy it for fuel economy but I dis expect it to be better than my 17 year old V8 4runner with >200k miles.

Tires heat up during use and that increases the psi a pound or two Over their cold Psi.
I know; I was just pointing it out for context. I’ve found that around 35 PSI is the sweet spot—balancing less rolling resistance, ride quality, and avoiding premature tire wear.

Quick update from my previous post: I averaged 19.9 MPG over 220 miles, mostly on the interstate.

A fuel size 450 HP V6 F-150 Ford Raptor gets 14/18 mpg. It’s not that much different from our 4 cylinder Tacoma’s.

It’s true. Tacoma and other mid sized trucks keep getting bigger and consumers expect more and more power, so yeah, difference isn’t huge.

Mine wants to coast forever. Is PDA (proactive driving assist) enabled? I've seen comments that it causes excessive braking in traffic.

I make a lot of trips by where I think you live or bought your pickup - Stevens Point?

Anything above 70+ MPH and much payload make the EPA highway estimates near impossible. 60 MPH or less can be pretty good. Metro/city driving in a judicious manner will beat what our two Siennas did.

My wife's German wagon can get up to 38 MPG on highway which I consider good for an AWD and that functional a vehicle. I'm sure 45 series tires with year-round 3PMSF tires hurt it.

As nice as my gen 4 is, I can't imagine wanting it as a primary commuter as seems to be with many. Even more from testing the halo models. I'm off road a lot, a trail builder, ski area crew and like the TRD OR OEM tires a lot for my mix.

I just bought mine on Friday, but the computer was reading really strange until I reset the MPG meter. If you haven't done that, it fixed my issue.

Crispy, I log my fillups and other stuff, tire changes, service, etc. in a book in my rig. But I can't think of a reason to let the world know where I am at any particular time. I'm not grousing, I'm curious why I should do that - seriously not fuzzed up - curious.
