Is anyone else not satisfied with the ride of their TRD Sport? I feel that the ride quality is pretty bad even compared to my 2011 2nd gen Tacoma. I feel every crack and bump in the road. I’m pretty sure that if I drove over a piece of paper I could feel it. The most annoying part is when I’m just lightly on the throttle and maintaining speed, the whole truck seems to be shuttering/rumbling/slugging along. It’s hard to explain but it kind of feels like when you’re in too low of a gear and the vehicle sort of sputters. Even if I throw the transmission into Neutral and I’m coasting it feels the same. As soon as I really step on the gas everything smoothens out. It doesn’t matter what RPM, gear or speed I’m at, it just kind of shutters and slugs along depending on throttle position. I guess when I really step on the gas, it transfers some of the weight to the back and that’s when things start to get smooth. I went through and torqued all the suspension components, motor mounts, drive shaft, tire pressure, tire balance, even tried another set of wheels and it’s always the same.

Does anyone else feel like this? Anything I should look at? I have MR316 wheels with 265/70/17 BFG Trail Terrains (same tires that come on the TRD Off Road).

What psi do you have your tires at? I have an OR and am happy with the way it rides.

30 cold. Traditionally the TRD Off road rides softer then the sport

I don't notice any of the sluggish performance that you speak about. But my 24 Sport is much rougher than my 2022 Sport was. I was never concerned about potholes and RR Tracks around town with my 22.I was always amazed how smooth it was.But with my 24 I pick and choose my path to avoid them. But on the highway the 22 was a pig to drive. Hard to maintain a straight line..wind blew it all over the place..I hated driving on the highway. The 24 is night and day improved.

Stiffer ride could be due to the new boxed frame. Less “give” over minor imperfections in the road.

I find my sport to actually have a pretty smooth ride and I don't feel the back bouncing around over bumps like I have in other trucks. I also have C load tires but run 32/30 PSI

I wouldn't say dissatisfied, but it definitely rides firm. It is a sport version after all meant more for road than off road. However I'm not sure what you are trying to describe, it rides harsh or you're having a fuelling problem?? Sputtering, slagging? My truck doesn't feel like any of these descriptors. Its smooth as hell engine wise/tranny wise regardless of throttle opening, even when in a higher gear and picking up speed before downshifting its smooth. My tire pressures are 30-32 cold all stock. I do plan on getting a set of 17's and perhaps some pizza cutters for more sidewall eventually. If its ride quality than only thing you can do is swap out suspension at some point.

My Limited rides like a Cadillac. Even with Wrangler duratracs. But then there's all that chrome stuff everybody hates...

I haven’t experienced anything like what you describe in my 2024 TRD Sport 6MT, and I traded in a 2021 of the same. I don’t have your tires or wheels, is it possible they aren’t properly balanced and you are feeling that?

I have no complaints with my Sport. I have driven 350 mile round trip (highway miles) and loved the ride. No back pain at all.
I have also driven to lake and back plus side roads and have no issues. I have never driven any of the other models to compare.

The 2024 Sport vs my 2023 bronco OuterBanks is night and day. The Bronco was so ruff. Always had a sore back after a long round trip drive.

Short answer. Suspension. I upgraded to King shocks. The ride is so smooth like drving on new asphalt road.

No complaints here. I test drove a Sport and Off Road the same day, same route, and the Sport was noticeably smoother to me. Can’t comment on the SR5 or Limited, but I love the way the Sport rides and drives.

I guess I'm not really complaining about the Sport ride..it's not bone jarring or painful..just rougher than my 2022 was. If that's what it takes to get better highway manners,I'm fine.

There's issues going on with your Sport, OP. I have the OEM Michelin Primacy tires. I would say that it is kind of a harsh ride on rough roads, but i don't have the sluggishness or sputtering that you have. You need to take it to the dealer.

I downsized to a sport from an F150.

The sport is way smoother than the F150 was. Like not even comparable.
