So I've had my Off-Road since April and didn't notice tell it started snowing and the roads started getting bumpy,my window rattles like crazy when it is cracked open or in any position besides halfway down or fully closed... It's driving me crazy... I have a few of the annoying defects(windshield cowl, bed rail warp, etc) but this is driving me nuts... Can't even crack the windows open I have to keep them closed

I picked up my Sport two weeks ago and only have 250 miles on it but I immediately noticed the same issue within a day or two when I cracked the driver's side window about 2 inches for some air.

Funny thing is, I traded in my '22 Jeep Gladiator with 14k miles on it that did the same EXACT thing, but I chalked it up to it being expected with the thin cheap doors or just it being a POS Jeep:).

The Tacoma overall is so much more solid than the Jeep but I'm really disappointed that it's doing the same thing with the window.

Ya I'm debating taking it to the dealer but kinda nervous for the service guys to start tearing apart my door and still not fixing it.... Wondering how common it is....

I have noticed a similar issue with my rear passenger window. I find that if I give the switch a small tap up, it mostly goes away. like it's taking the slack out of the mechanism or something.

Yup, I figure it's something I just have to live with since there's no way I'm going to have them start taking apart the door on my brand-new truck. Even if there's eventually a TSB or something it's not worth it to me, at least not now.

I'll have to try tapping the switch up to see if that works.

So you tap the switch but your window stays open? Is that what your saying? Like the mechanism is not holding the window secure?

Same issue, truck is otherwise very solid. Any one diagnose what is causing this yet?

Mine does as well, when its cracked just an inch. I feel like it sounds as if its coming from the dash somewhere, but i cant realistically reach over and start pushing on spots to locate it, while going 50+ mph.

Just tap it and it will go up a little bit. don't close it. lower it farther than you want it open then raise it up to the spot you want it.

I was reading some previous gen forums and they were able to remedy the issue by taking off the corner plate at the front of the window and applying felt tape inside of it to press on the window rubber guides a bit more. Not sure if that ā€œfixā€ applies to the 4G or not. Iā€™m not that motivated to fix itā€¦yet.

I just dropped my truck off at the dealership for this issue. I'm hoping they actually fix it and I don't get a "oh well" type answer. Paid far too much for a window rattle.

Agree. Other than that, my truck is solid as hell. Iā€™m coming from a BMW and Iā€™m thoroughly impressed with the build quality. Had zero gripes until i found this cracked window rattle. Keep us posted!

This is the issue. To confirm, when your window is open and making the noise, grab the top of the window with your hand and gently wiggle it back and forth (inside to outside/lateral). The interior rubber gasket by the A-pillar does not make full contact with the glass. The rattling sound is the truck hitting any slight bump and the window momentarily coming into contact with that gasket.

I've been toying with somehow expanding that gasket so it always makes contact - will likely do it in the spring since I don't anticipate having my windows open much during the winter.
