Yup, this is exactly the issue. This is the issue. To confirm, when your window is open and making the noise, grab the top of the window with your hand and gently wiggle it back and forth (inside to outside/lateral). The interior rubber gasket by the A-pillar does not make full contact with the glass. The rattling sound is the truck hitting any slight bump and the window momentarily coming into contact with that gasket.
I've been toying with somehow expanding that gasket so it always makes contact - will likely do it in the spring since I don't anticipate having my windows open much during the winter.
There's just too much space on both the inside and outside between the window and the gasket all around. If you crack the window and then watch it when you drive, you can clearly see the window rattling around because there's no pressure on the glass and the glass doesn't contact the gasket on either side to keep it from rattling when you drive on anything but a completely smooth road.
BTW, I mentioned my Gladiator that I just got rid of for the Tacoma did the same thing, but I didn't mention that my wife's '20 MDX has always done the exact same thing for the same reason since day one. Crack the window and watch it rattle, it's not just a Toyota thing.
Almost seems like there's some reason why they're not manufacturing cars with tighter tolerances than they used to. Either that or everything is just crap now.
