So it's starting to cold in Eastern Pennsylvania. The last 2 mornings have been around 30 degrees.
Don't know why but my power windows won't go down when it's cold. Yesterday the tailgate won't go down either.
Is this normal or should I have my dealer look at it???

Your windows and tailgate should operate normally in any temperatures we see in North America, including in Alaska and Canada where 4th gens are sold.

So yes, take it to your dealer. You might want to document it with some video too, since dealers are famous for their can't replicate behavior dodges.

I cannot come up with any believable logic why the truck would be designed that way. I think you should head to the dealer.

I’m in upstate NY. Which has been colder lately and mine always go down of course making sure they’re not obstructed by ice/snow etc.

We're getting colder here in NH the last couple of weeks too. I've noticed my windows don't always go down until I thaw the truck out a bit. Didn't have this problem on my Gen 3, but on my Trailhunter it seems to be a frequent occurrence.

I am guessing there is something different about the way the Gen 4 and Gen 3 handle runoff/melt. I think there is likely ice melting during the day that somehow works into the window and it freezes shut at night when the temp drops. I noticed it on my tailgate once too. I use that less than my windows, so it could be just as prevalent.

This feels like a rather minor yet annoying design flaw. Not sure where the freeze is happening. If at the top, maybe adding some rain guards would help. But if at the bottom, well...not sure. Hmmm... Looking forward to hearing from others too.

Wow - that does sound like a design flaw. I have lived in some very cold places and never had my windows not function no matter how cold it was. My other trucks would even break loose from some light icing, although I don't recommend that. That's a pretty big flaw in a go anywhere, anytime truck like a TH.

Smells like a new TSB to me.

I've operated my truck in 15Âş with none of these issues. Was the engine running when you had these issues?

@Sagebrush Good point - it is probably either a component failure or an assembly error. My windows all work fine too. Still needs a TSB so dealers can fix these people's trucks IMO.

No issues here even at -20C (-4F). However, it sounds like it might be a bigger issue in freeze/thaw transitions with precipitation mixed in.
