I have not removed mine yet to play with it. It can only be paired with the truck's system? I assumed you could pair it with any Bluetooth source.

Unfortunately I donāt believe it can be. Iāve had my ā24 Tacoma for a little over a month and 5,200 miles and still have not found a way to connect to the vehicle when removedā¦Iām also curious if the radio can be played through the speaker when it is disconnected. I enjoy going to the drive in and think it would be a neat feature to have in the truck bed with the wife and I chilling watching the movies.
I am also waiting for someone to come up with something similar to that.Anyone make a 3D Printable filler for gaping hole in the dash? For those who chose not to leave/user the speaker in the truck?
Toyota already makes one for lower end trucks...Anyone make a 3D Printable filler for gaping hole in the dash? For those who chose not to leave/user the speaker in the truck?

It's worth noting you have to remove the dock to install this cover.. 4x 10mm bolts. That said you could easily cut the tabs on this and use some 3M hook+loop tape [velcro] to secure it over the dock *however* you would also have to remove the dock trim/cover piece first -- you can yank it off by hand, pry tool not necessary:I did not even know that this was thing! I have been driving around without any cover on the speaker slot. Before we know it, someone will come up with a drop in speaker without a rechargeable battery on it.

This doesn't exist.. If you have an iPhone with the Lidar sensor you could 3D scan the dock, 3D scan the non-JBL cover, modify into a custom cover design and 3D print ABS or ASA... doubt anyone will be doing that though.. most folks will pull the dock and use the OEM cover I suspect.![]()
I thought it was a plug and play cover. Nvm, back to waiting for an actual cover for the speaker slot. That or a speaker that you canm put in there that does not need have a battery on it.
I am tempted to take the route that you took. But I know crap when it comes to a car's electrical system.
