I have not removed mine yet to play with it. It can only be paired with the truck's system? I assumed you could pair it with any Bluetooth source.

I’m also curious if the radio can be played through the speaker when it is disconnected. I enjoy going to the drive in and think it would be a neat feature to have in the truck bed with the wife and I chilling watching the movies.

Unfortunately I don’t believe it can be. I’ve had my ‘24 Tacoma for a little over a month and 5,200 miles and still have not found a way to connect to the vehicle when removed…

My neighborhood, like @Sagebrush is in deep woods, i have Bears, fox, coyotees, bobcats, moose and many other thieaves lol….take your favorite Team Ballcap and toss it over the speaker…now if your taco ventures into mall territory maybe its a issue, i use amazon , not malls , And if all else fails make sure you have insurance that will cover the loss
