Basically looking for the Premium Package and Sway Bar Disconnect in Oxide Bronze.

One question I'm trying to get clarification on is the high output air compressor. It's listed as a a package option in the compare tool on the website, it was listed as a part of the premium package on that Car and Driver had in their article, and Chloe Kuo mentioned that it was part of the premium package too.

However, it's not listed as part of the premium package on the config tool. I wish I knew if it were included or not, it does seem like it could be for the price they are charging for the premium package. Has anyone heard anything about that?

Thanks for making me feel a little better at the numbers I’m guessing with too For the same models. That seems to be a competitive price for the Taco. & while the Land Cruiser could go as high as they think they can if they want it to be a more niche vehicle than the upcoming 4 runner, still, they can only go so high before they start running into GX territory (another Toyota I want to take a long look at).
I'm thinking the mid Land Cruiser to come in the mid 70s in Canada (everything made in Japan always has a 14-20k premium in Canada vs the US and the base LC in the US is mid 50s, so the mid should be 60 at least). GX should bump up to low 80s to start here. Limited Tacoma is hybrid only in Canada, so likely mid 60s. Any higher than that and it starts to encroach on the non-hybrid limited Tundra at $71k. When it is foregoing features like memory seats and is in spitting distance of the Tundra, people start looking at that.

When it is foregoing features like memory seats and is in spitting distance of the Tundra, people start looking at that.
I suspect that’s why every 2nd truck around here is an F150 & why the Ranger isn’t available in nearly as many configurations as it is elsewhere in the world. Those of us on a midsize truck forum might not think like that, but it appears the majority of truck buying folks on the lot just go for the full-size if the price is anything close, agreed.

I'm pretty far down the waitlist for a Pro (116th on list) at one of my local dealerships selling at MSRP. Since it's looking like the Pro's might get to the $60k range, I might look at the GX also since they're starting at $65k for their lowest trim. They recently released the configurator for the GX also.

I might have to wait until late 2024 / early 2025 until I'm even able to get a Pro... So I just might weigh my options with the GX since they might be around the same price point.

I do think the price increase is a bit much.

But - comparing ANY Chevy, Ford, or Nissan mid sized truck to a Tacoma is ridiculous. The Tacoma is the benchmark standard in reliability, resale value, and sale #. It's the best mid truck in the world and that's not a debate.

Let me correct that for you: the *3rd GEN* Tacoma is the benchmark in reliability.
We know nothing about the reliability of the 4th Gen, and if the new tundra is any indication, it does not look pretty.
New platform, new powertrain, new tech and electronics. What could go wrong?

Thanks to people like you though, who don’t mind paying $60-65K for a truck sold 50K elsewhere (TRD Pro vs ZR2), they will still sell like hot cakes and keep their resale value, you are right.
And I must agree resale value is very important which is probably one of the only reason I’m still around.

I was all aboard the hype wagon until I saw the fuel mileage numbers. I've got no problem going to a 4cyl from the 6cyl; but NOT with the same fuel mileage.

And you are right, gotta let them play out for a few years first. I've got a 22 OR that I'll be keeping for a bit and to be honest, I might even slide over to the LandCruiser next purchase.

Honestly would take my chances with a 4th gen Tacoma then a Colorado, Ranger or Nissan. All brands don't "build them like they use to" and cheap out on parts and quality.

But I have to agree with some here, the prices are pretty high for the 4th Gen, if a PRO, Hybrid or TrailHunter is pushing over $60K , then a GX550 or LandCruiser sure does play into the buying process.

If you are looking to save some money and get into a new truck, I would go for this. I just bought my new 2023 Limited because the price was so good. I was really excited about the 4th gen, but love my new truck so far and feel I made the right choice for now. Last of a classic!

Toyota engineers tuned the engine to balance fuel economy and power. In this case you're getting near V8 power with V6 fuel economy on 87 octane. The 4th gen is also hundreds of pounds heavier from added features and a sturdier frame yet it is faster and gets the same fuel economy as the 3rd gen.

Looking at the torque curves, it appears that Toyota went conservative on the tune between 1700 and 3500rpm to probably give a bigger separation between the iForce and iForce max. My guess is that an aftermarket tune will unlock a lot more power as well.

I've towed my 6k lb car hauler with my Colorado 2.7L turbo over 1000 miles and it handles the hills the same or better than the 5.7L Hemi V8 rig it replaced. On moderate hills I thought the turbo did a better job because the torque down low meant it didn't have to downshift all the time.
