Has anyone seen any comments on why the fuel door for the non hybrid has the finger pull on the fuel door? It appears that the hybrid is accessed remotely to the left of the steering wheel. Seems like both models should have remote operation.

I recall seeing something about the Hybrid needing the lock as a safety feature. I don't know why that would be different to the ICE model, other than perhaps someone shoving a rag down down the pipe to set the vehicle on fire and ignite the battery?

I can't see any functional reason for leaving the remote fuel door on one truck and not the other.

My guess is that Toyota left all kinds of stuff off of the less expensive Tacos to save money. That leaves only the top models with a lot of features that IMO all of them should have.

its odd for sure. I know this, the Tacoma has never had a locking fuel door despite the rest of Toyotas lineup having a locking fuel door. The hybrid units are the first in Tacoma's history to get locking fuel doors from what I know.

In a year or two the press release will read "Locking fuel door is now standard across all models."

I like the fact you can see the fuel door in the side mirror on the trailhunter. Can confirm I closed it without having to get out. I'm paranoid that way.

Hybrids also get a ‘real’ full size spare.

Am I the only one who hates not being able to open the fuel door from the outside? The little button drives me crazy haha

When I was reading the owners manual which many do not I was enlightened to find the gas cap has a resting place on the fuel door. I was dangling it uninformed.

My 2011 accord has a resting spot for the gas cap, my Lexus has one and yes my Tacoma has one. Thinking it’s pretty standard now a days.

I had forgotten that I posted this 10 months ago. I ended up buying a new 2023 Limited and got a great deal on it. I love it so far. Might look at a 4th gen after a couple of years

The even semi-crazier thing is the Toyota Pickup had a lock on the fuel door. My '93 had it and if I remember correctly, so did my '90 and my '85 4runner.

Thinking about propping the license plate down/open with the gas cap to fill the gas tank hidden behind it now makes me feel even older.
