I am going to get a Smartcap eventually, has anyone had to do anything to the suspension with the extra weight added? Also, I plan on putting in a decked system too, so there will be more weight with that too.

My question for any cap is whether there is a way to move the rear view camera to the back of the camper. Has anyone experimented with that?

The Smartcap Evo Adventure only weighs around 200 lbs., on it's own it's definitely not any different than having a second adult in the truck.

I typically roll around with ~300lbs. in addition to the Smartcap and Rooftop tent, I haven't noticed any difference in drive and there isn't any bed sag.

Smart Cap's have a window so the bed camera and rear cab light both see into the canopy.

It works okay with the Smartcap.

Hmm, so that's basically what you'd see anyways if you were not using the digital rear view. Seems like it's still better visibility than using the regular mirror. Seems good enough for sure.

That is the digital mirror. The camera is looking through the front window of the Smartcap.
Right. That's what I was saying. It basically looks like what you'd see (minus the window frames) if you didn't have the digital mirror. Maybe I wasn't clear (my bad), but what I was saying is that I think the digital mirror works good enough with the smartcap so you'd probably not even need to relocate it as some people have suggested.

Nice setup! I’m looking to do the same thing, and mount my roofnest tent on top. How much clearance do you have between the bottom of the roof nest and the top of the cab? I’ve got a dealer installed roof rack and I’m not sure if I’ll have enough clearance…

Great looking install. I just got mine put on today. I have a couple of questions. Do you have any issue with the seal at the bottom of the rear hatch catching on the tailgate lip when you open the hatch up? Mine rubs pretty hard when I open or close it. In time, I'm concerned it will wear itself out.

Also, can you operate (open and close) the power tailgate while the rear hatch is open? Mine won't do it because that seal is so tight getting past the little kick-up on the tailgate.

Does anyone have any suggestions to overcome these issues?

Self-install, yup!

Only advice is to take it slow, avoid having to loosen anything back up after tightening and make sure you don't over tighten anything...use appropriate torque!
I'd also suggest getting some extra superglue and gluing the entire gasket, not just the corners. I'm getting some spots where it's getting squeezed out after bouncing around on a dirt road.

Great looking truck!

The fit on the tailgate is tight but it's not too bad on mine. I don't have the power tailgate so I can't comment on that part. The gasket does loosen up a bit over time. I had the same cap on a Ford F150 and the power tailgate needed a little help to get down too. I didn't have that truck long enough to see if it was better after a break in period.
