I’ve put ‘E’ rated (Firestone Destination XT) tires on my OR Hybrid. Anyone have experience with the correct air pressure to run them at? Door sticker says 30lbs, but would be to low for this ‘heavier duty’ tire. (So I was told) This would be for everyday driving on streets/highways. THX!

As far as I'm aware, E rated tires have a minimum pressure of 35psi

OK, but do we run them at that? (I’m talking ON road)

My F150 has E rated tires and I ran them at 35 psi for 120k miles... first set of tires lasted 100k miles. Second set is currently at 20k miles. I would air them up before towing or maxing out the payload capacity of the bed. The more air pressure, the higher the load capacity. There's charts posted online or you can use this calculator to find out the equivalent pressure of your OEM tires: https://tiresize.com/pressure-calculator/

My Tacoma does not have E rated tires, so I'm running my SL rated tires at 30psi.

What size are your new tires?

I should clarify that lower air pressure will ride smoother, but higher air pressure will carry more load. Experiment with different pressures and see what you like.

Yeah, I just don’t wanna ‘wear them out’ prematurely.

I’m running 35s on 18” wheel, E Load. Saw a 2mpg highway increase going from 34psi up to 36psi cold. Temps get up to 39 on the road but still rides well

Chalk test with a normal load add more air when running heavy.

Question for you guys. I’ve put 3500 miles on Falken E Load 275/70/18s running about 33 PSI cold. That’s the most comfortable PSI. I just bought a tread depth gauge and the outer tread is reading 16/32 and the center tread is reading 17/32. That indicates under inflation. Anyone have any idea how much more PSI I should go and have you all done a tread depth test after a few thousand miles?

Was it the same in the front and back? Do a chalk test.
