I ordered a new Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 in 2012 and chose the optional 120 litre tank. Standard tank was like 96 litres I believe. I was doing a lot of long distance driving at the time. Best truck I ever owned (for 2 years before a red light runner took it out).I spoke with multiple Toyota dealerships and even a secretary at Toyota head quarters here in Plano, Texas. I asked them how I could get a larger fuel tank and a roll down rear window like they did for the Tundra from the factory at the Baja California plant in Tijuana, Mexico. It all fell on deaf ears. They get their marching orders from corporate in Tokyo and make no changes.
How do I know this is possible ? My youngest son did a special order and bought a 2021 Dodge Rebel 1500 and the Dealership asked him point blank; If you travel a lot you may want to think about spending an extra $500 and get the larger fuel tank offered from the factory. He did. I was there and heard the entire conversation. Wow, if Dodge can offer a larger fuel tank why can't Toyota ? ? ?
My Tacoma says about 425 km on a full tank but Iāve driven it 500 km in city driving before refuelling. Took 64 litres about. Iām ok with that.
