Anyone else notice KBB values are way off?

This is for a 2024 TRD offroad with premium package selected. Actual prices are closer to 50-52k. KBB also doesn't even have the iforcemax as an option, my VIN couldnt even be found. Ive never seen this be so far off. Im not actually looking to trade in but i like to know where im standing equity wise. Just something interesting i noticed. Also i wonder what they would give to a trade in now....

i think its more likely KBB doesnt know its a new model and is using 2023 model data.

KBB always lags the market anyway. They’re not a good place to get a good value. They also don‘t assess all your expensive options as worth much, so that almost 5k “upgrade” package doesn’t move the value needle much on their end.

Blue Book uses historical sales prices to get a value. There's no way there's been enough moving through the used market yet to get useful data on them...

The dealership I picked up my long bed trailhunter had a used 3k mile short bed trailhunter that was listed for highter than what I paid for my new trailhunter. I asked why and they told me that its whats selling for. I couldnt understand why but thats the reason I was given.

Mine was $54,800 MSRP, I paid $51,000. I've been having trouble with it, not a big fan....so I started shopping it. Trade in values at multiple dealers are in high 30's, Carvana is $40,000, Carmax $39,000. I understand depreciation, but this is excessive. I traded in a RAV4Prime on this, I got $3,000 less than what I paid for it.

I think it's a combination of, the new inventory is not selling, there are reports of some issues, and it's almost too new for KBB to get a real read on it's value. I'm just going to hold on to mine until the Spring and I'll see where I stand. I'm sure there will be some correction in our favor...hopefully.

Damn that’s rough. I bought my 2017 for 33k and sold it for 28k after 7 years and 60k miles. But I do see my dealer lot getting more and more tacos and not many leaving the lot. Luckily I’m still happy with mine but hope we see a correction in 2025. I think with tariffs coming future imports will be more expensive so maybe whatever’s on lot will be sold quick.

For the folks saying they're overpriced...they are. However, if you've purchased a vehicle in the past 5 years, you know that's not unique to Tacomas. They're all overpriced. The price I paid for this truck is actually below the average price of a new car in the US.

What is unique to the new Tacomas is this steep, steep depreciation. Depreciation is normal, all new cars experience it. A decline to that degree is not normal, and definitely not normal for a Toyota.
