I have a question for Dongar.
I have purchased the Dongar pro. I also have a Garmin 3 on the front windshield and a Garmin 2 on the back window of my 2024 Tacoma. (Using the 10 pin adapter provided)
Obviously if I plug your adapter directly into the Garmin 3 via the male USB-C to male USB-C ( one single cable), parking mode works as it supposed to. What do I need to do to power both cameras through your adapter
(or technically, I should say after your adapter)
so they both will have power in Park mode?……

I would assume you have to get an adapter from the garmin 3 (usb c) long enough to reach the garmin 2 like a y adapter

Why would you ditch one of the best cameras on the market to find one that works with this. Why not just buy the VIOFO adapter and use that. It is the same concept as the Dongar but actually works with the VIOFO. The Garmins are far inferior based on just about every YT review out there.

Were you able to hardwire to the fuse box and close the cover... Wanted the Dongar for a clean install

Bought the hardwire kit but trying to avoid extra fuses or a cover that won't close

Can the Hardwire kit be hooked to the mirror or needs a fuse tap I'm assuming.... I hope they do thoroughly test all popular Dash cams so we know which Cameras actually work right... Definitely upset they should have at least tested a Viofo Cam.... They seem to be one of the best

You cannot. The fuse cover I just put in the glove box. The big black panel that covers the fuse box still goes in no problem. It won’t be subject to any elements. I had an add a fuse already for my hardwire radar detector so I am good. I’d rather have a good dash cam were the parking feature actually works. I bought that same VIOFO kit. Wired it yesterday. Selling the Dongar. That was a $60 mistake.

I ended up buying something pretty close to that one, but one of the splitters had to be for a
USB -A because that’s what comes from the rear camera and I also found out that you have to be plugged in from the Dungar to the first camera 1st, and then you give the power to the second camera. You cannot plug the splitter into the Dungar itself and then give equal out to both cameras

Hmmm that’s interesting. Unless you get a dash camera that has front and rear lenses.

In my case, that wouldn't work to well because I'm in a double cab truck so I would lose way to much view out the back window. Just got done with the install on my 2024 tacoma Trailhunter and although it was a tight fit with everything inside of the cover above the mirror, all is working as it should.
I love how small they are.

Hi everyone - I stumbled upon this thread b/c I just installed a VIOFO A329 dash cam in my new 2024 RAV4 Prime using the Dongar Pro adapter and was trying to figure out how to get parking mode to work.

I can confirm that the 5 min inactivity CAN end up triggering parking mode (VIOFO claims all their dashcams have this). I enabled parking mode, shut my car off, then came back out after several minutes and the dash cam was indeed in parking mode (I set the parking mode LED to only show the power LED).

Before I read about the inactivity trigger, I was ready to return the Dongar Pro and just forgo parking mode (don’t really need it that badly).

Good luck with your installs, just wanted to provide this data point as a fellow Toyota owner. Of course, YMMV.

Let me know if you have any questions. I’m following the thread for a fix to the Dongar whine. It is quite pronounced in my Prime, both because the car is silent around town and I have the adapter installed outside of the sensor box.

I have the Garmin Live dash cam and set it up using the Dongar pro. It works flawlessly. I can have constant power continuously, on ignition only or 4 hours after I turn off the truck. Parking mode works great and even better… I can see a live view of my truck when it’s parked from anywhere in the world. Only downside is it doesn’t have a rear camera. Overall I’m happy with the Dongar Pro and the dash cam.

Mine doesn’t whine. The Dongar rep mentioned they were fixing it and new purchases would be okay and that they would send a replacement one for the ones who had the whining issue. I just bought mine a week ago.

Wait, your dash cam was actually recording in one of the 3 types of recording in parking mode (timelapse, low bit rate, or motion activated)? Or was just continuously recording in the regular mode?

Yes, I have it set to motion activated in parking mode. If it was recording continuously in regular mode, the power, recording, and GPS lights would be lit.
