2024 Tacoma EZPass transponder location - where's yours? 20240922_115204

Has anybody here on the east coast mounted an ez pass transponder in their 2024 Tacoma. I have a Trailhunter and I really don't want to place it 1 inch to the right of the rear-view mirror and 1 inch below the roof line. It really blocks the passenger's view. I was thinking of placing it right behind the rear view mirror post, centered about an inch below it. Does anybody know if this would be readable? Thanks for any ideas.

Our transponders in Nova Scotia are supposed to be mounted where you have it shown, you wont have an issue with the machines reading it, I like to keep mine where I CANT see it (6'4") I need all the windshield view as I can get

Should work in your location below the rearview. I know our state (IL) has switched over to the ez-pass stickers, or you can go with the front plate mounted ones if you have a state that runs front plates.

I personally like the plate mounted ones.

We only use it on vacation so we just hold it up when passing through the booth. It works in a variety of locations.

I’ve always mounted the EZ Pass transponder in my vehicles in the upper right corner of the windshield. Never had an issue.

I live in PA and have used my EZPass Fob in all sorts of locations including just laying on top of the dash and it worked just fine. IAM pretty sure that as long as it is in an open area at the front windshield the toll scanners will read it.

My Sunpass (FL) is to the right of the mirror/black dots. No issues and out of the way

If I was to get one, I'd put it on the passenger side of that area as I have the toyota dash cam on the left

I have mine mounted in the location you are pointing out, I haven't had any issues. Bonus I have the Uni pass (works with many of systems) and it's black so it just blends in and I forget it's there until I have to clean my windshield.

The EZPass transponder is an RFID device. It's what's considered an "active RFID" in that when it registers an energy hit from the readers, it uses a build-in battery to "boost" it's ability to respond to the signal. Placing it anywhere on your windshield that doesn't have heavy blocking materials (such as a strong tint film or the special foil bags given for blocking the signal) should allow it to work just fine. I've had them mounted everywhere, and sometimes even just tossed up on the dash just before driving through the reader plaza.

If you have ever participated in a fitness event where you had a "bib with a tag" and you walked/ran/biked/swam over a mat, or under a stand with rectangular tiles on it, you were using a form of "passive RFID", in which the tag responds using the energy received (hence "chip times" in current fitness races). The EZPass is just a boosted version of this same technology foundation.

I always sit in the driver's seat and figure out a location to mount in which it becomes hidden behind the rearview mirror and I completely forget about it.

Mine is on the right side next to the mirror in the black dots as well. Never had an issue. Was there on my previous truck as well.
