your talking about the app right?
The digital key that's part of the Toyota app... depending on your trim level... but thinking if you got the key card, you are in the upper trims that would also have the digital key.

2 Fobs and the card. I use a Fob... just the card alone scares me.

For everyone that just uses the card, do you think it's better than the fob? What if it dies?
It can die just like the fob. because it is a fob without the buttons. Still has a key you can use inside and can still place it over the start button to start the truck.

Card for me. I keep a deactivated fob inside in case of emergency
I tried to carry both, card in my wallet and fob on my keyring.

My plan was to leave the keyring in the truck and just carry my wallet with the card. It's a pain since when you try to lock the truck using the door handle with a live fob inside, it starts beeping like crazy thinking you're trying to lock the fob in the truck with no way to get back in. Because of this, I take my keys so I always have both the card and fob with me which is dumb and defeats the purpose.

I didn't think of this and it's a great solution, just take the battery out of the fob and keep it inside as a backup.

However, I'm still on the fence on carrying the card at all since it's missing two functions that the fob has, remote start and power tailgate. Yeah, I can use the app, but then what's the point of having only half of the functionality and having to use my phone for some stuff?

It kind of makes the card useless and more of a novelty that just makes my wallet fatter (and not in a good way).

You don’t need to take the battery out. You can turn it off by pressing the buttons in a sequence. There’s a YT video on it

ok maybe I'm an idiot but what do you mean use the key inside? I have push to start and thought the key was just for the door

I also got 2 FOBs and a card. After a few months, I used the card for a couple of weeks then decided to go back to using a FOB as it has the buttons for certain functions and is quicker than using the Toyota app on my phone.

I need to downsize my wallet before I can use the wallet fob. I used it for a couple months after I got the truck and found that because my wallet resides in my back pocket, it was causing some back problems. So... I need to find a new wallet that I can keep in my front pocket. Looking for recommendations!

I use the card occasionally for daily driving but for camping and using generator mode when I need to physically lock the cabin while the engine is running it's easier to use the key hardware in fobs vs trying to finagle it out of the card with that small pin. Plus, I have Goose Gear locks & GFC locks, hitch pin lock, etc so physical keys need to pair with the fob.

Yep if your card dies, you have a physical key in there & you enter the cabin with that key and hold the card point-blank next to the start/power button. Also your phone has capability to carry a digital key as a backup or even primary.
