Wonder how this affects the price of vehicles made in the U.S.? Toyota and Honda among others have plants here, but they get parts from all over the world. I realize that the President wants to encourage U.S. manufacturing, but as I said, parts come from elsewhere.

As a $TM shareholder it sucks but everyone & their grandmother has been shitting on the gen 4s anyway so who cares if tacos go up 25% overnight, right? All the haters can go get that Lexus or a Tundra and they can officially shut their pie holes while the illegal immigration dominoes fall…

I have noticed an online love affair for the new 4Runner. How can it be so wonderful, when we all know that the Taco it is built on is a total piece of crap?

News now saying March 1st tariffs will take effect.
I'm still seeing Feb 4th. Might actually prefer it to start early and get resolved by March. My temp VIN turned into a real VIN on the 24th but it still shows "In production". I heard that Pros and THs leave the factory with a VIN but then get all the extra stuff added post production. Then they wait for rail and or boat.

I would be surprised if Toyota raises prices on trucks already in the pipeline, but I would also be surprised if they don't raise prices sometime in the future. Midsize trucks are already expensive enough to hold back their sales, and this will just make that worse.
Well I’ll be a test for this. I have one in production. The deal is on paper. Guess we will see….

Yep - the perfect test. A truck that is basically sold, but will be imported after the tariff hits will tell us a lot.

I expect that you will get it for the quoted price, but I'm not sure of that. That tariff is like a tax and we know that when taxes increase we pay more, not the seller.

This had me concerned the last few months, i figured things would go in this direction, i had a 25 on order, and frankly i was sweating, besides the fact i wasnt hearing anything on my truck, i honestly floated the idea with several guys here and i got a lot of positive encouragement, i then went to my dealer ,discussed the tariff situation, then floated idea to him .
We relooked at what i wanted , he found the exact truck i wanted, no BS uneeded port add-ons…yesterday i drove home in my new truck ,and its in my garage this morning, bought and paid for.
Feel bad for some waiting, i sat with service MGR for an hour , my concerns were the obviouse TSB , Trans issues. He told me dont worry, toyota was pretty quiet in regards to how they corrected things, he told me they didnt get new trucks for awhile ,toyota corrected things, my truck was built at end of september , ill be fine.

I'm in the same boat. Ordered Jan 8th, went into production Jan 23rd, notified it was finished on Feb 1st. Waiting on shipping from central Mexico. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Curious what VIN/availability dates you have. My VIN (not a temp) ends in 18705 and shows as in build phase but no availability date.
Checking online, I see another Pro, built after mine, with a 18885 VIN showing "build phase. Estimated availability 02/10/25 - 03/02/25" and one with 18495 VIN showing "build phase,
Estimated availability 02/17/25 - 02/22/25.
I realize depending how many PPO options like spray bedliner, scene lighting, etc it will take longer before they ship, but my Pro has zero options, not even mudguards, and has no availability date??

You already have a price in writing though, right?

Cost of doing business! If they put them under contract before delivery it’s on them.

Ha! You must not know many dealers….
I have known more dealers than I would care to, and my opinion of car dealers isn't any higher than yours. lol

I just think the purchase agreement is basically a contract and even slime ball dealers would have a hard time backing out of that. But I might be surprised and learn to have even less faith in them than I do now.

But I think the real decision will come down to how Toyota handles this. They set the price that the dealers pay, so they could bump it up by all or part of the tariff. Then I assume the dealers would just pass that along to buyers. If the wholesale price increases by the full 25%, dealers might end up making even more profit and Tacoma sales will fall off of a cliff IMO.

This is basically a very screwed up situation for people in the process of finally getting their trucks.

Here is an image from an article about how the new tariffs will negatively impact the auto business. These trucks look kind of familiar to me. lol
