I watch my tire pressures religiously - and every time I set the screen it resets back to “Trip B” the next time I start my truck. Will toyota come up with a fix? It only does this for the tire pressure screen and it’s driving me nuts.

An over-the-air software update is long overdue.

I think we’ve had three on the BMW X5 since we bought it (16 months).

How many for the Tacoma? None

Exactly. Here’s another one. If y’all air down at all or if you start your truck on a super cold day - one of the tires might freak out on the tire pressure screen and no matter how high the pressure goes afterwards it keeps telling you to adjust the pressure. It’s super cold in Houston this week and this happened - but it picks 1 tire at random and persists - I realize 28 is low but in a couple days it’ll be back to normal and it’s also not so low that it should trigger the warning (when it first triggered it was 26) also when it warms up it’ll still have the warning - I’m sure I can reset it but why does it do this? I think the last time it did this I had to inflate it with more air to get it to stop freaking out (allowing the temp to rise and naturally increase pressure doesn’t work)

I don't know about Toyota or autos, but I work as a software developer on an airframe, and something like this is small potatoes way down on the backlog.

It's annoying af, but I wouldn't expect a fix any time soon.

Yeah. I was a programmer too. It is annoying tho bc it’s so easy to fix.

Yeah, a low priority no doubt and developers are not in charge of what gets fixed and when. Looking at some other long running issues with Toyota trucks it actually might never get fixed.

Also a Software Developer. We haven't seen the code, but maybe. I can think of quite a few things I'd rather see software wise before that if I was planning upcoming sprints.

I’m not a Scrum Master and it’s been eons since I’ve coded … but I’d like to see bugs like that fixed (and more serious ones) before any enhancements

How do you get it to go away? Air back up?
It just does it on its own. I put those new tires and wheels on last week and it's still the same way, 1° off, but it's not telling me to adjust the air pressure.

I've tried to be OCD about it and make it exactly match the other tires' pressure but the truck always has the last laugh on me.

Come to think of it, it only told me to adjust the air pressure once then the cold weather set in and the pressure dropped about 3 pounds on each tire and it went away after I added air to all the tires.

There's a lot of retardation in my vehicle like that.
The lane keeping assistant turns off on its own from time to time with no method to its madness.

The truck disconnects from my phone from time to time with no method to its madness either.
I just reconnect to my phone or have to connect it as a new device when it happens.

The automatic headlights come on often in bright light and I have the settings set to low light sensing or whatever the heck is called.
I turn it off and then back on to automatic and sometimes it stays off, sometimes it just comes back on regardless and I could be driving into the sunlight. El Ritardo.

Didn't mean to get off subject but I just felt the retardation is related.

Yeah I think that was right, air back up. Maybe try recalibrating it. Some vehicles have to be recalibrated every single time you add air like that Honda CRV we have that's a 24.
I posted this after the long one I posted trying to remember what I did or didn't do.

Rob Motive said it is fixed in his 2025, if that is true, I don’t see why they haven’t pushed a software update for the 2024. Is there a way to check the software level? How will we know when there has been a software update? Either over the air or by the dealer.

I just took my truck to the dealer for 10K service — no dice— seems like they could do their job and flash me the new software instead of trying to sell me shit

I see a lot of software developers here. I was, too. I think it’s pretty obvious from looking at the Tacoma for a few months that the software platform needs a lot of improvement.

There are many questionable UI choices. I also see lots of little bugs in the interface and software. I keep waiting for a BSOD.

The Tacoma platform has been in our hands for a year. It’s time for an update.

Maybe Sheldon will get off his ass and give us some information.
