Can't Drive 2024 Trailhunter Past 75 mph

Dealers WANT to do warranty work. They get paid from Toyota for that work and is how they make their money.

That is not entirely true. Dealers do get paid by Toyota for doing warranty work, but at a labor rate lower than what they charge customers. So a busy dealer can lose money doing too much warranty work at that lower rate, and they avoid it when possible.

I agree that a road force balancing on Hunter equipment should sort out if it is a tire problem. If the tires are fine then it pretty much has to be a mechanical issue with the truck. At that point the OP is stuck, because the dealer can just refuse to replicate the problem. If a problem can't be replicated by the service department, then for them it does not exist. It is still not clear to me that he has ruled out the known issue with vibrations from the roof rack, and I think that needs more consideration.

All of this leaves the OP in a bad situation, kind of like some poorly performing 8-speed automatics. It's tough to buy a new vehicle and the only way to move forward is to hope that something will fail.

As others have pointed out, the stock tires are not great. I had shaking/vibration at various speeds (55MPH, 72MPH). Bringing the PSI down helped. I have K03's now and they actually ride smoother than the stock Good Years... If K03's are smoother, that's all you need to know about the stock Good Years.

May be an issue with the Goodyears you guys have. No vibration issue at high speeds with the 17" BFGs. I drive around Phoenix so 80mph+. (But I also don't have a roof rack.)

It could be a bad tire. I run Duratrac RT's and don't have any issues after 12k miles. It's not a "Goodyear" thing, just a tire thing.I had vibrations from my roof rack, and I could hear them but not feel them in the steering wheel. I do not have an OEM Roof Rack and was able to correct most of those issue, but they are never quiet.

Idk if this is a completely irrational suggestion, I'm not very mechanically inclined but... Maybe try a tossing a couple sand bags in the truck bed to add some weight and test again.

I've been trying to buddy up to the service tech at my dealer just as a general overall strategy for my future well being... And one day he was saying something about some owners having vibrations like these driving at different speeds. He explained how these trucks were designed for work/to carry loads and how when some people added weight to the truck beds they were able to alleviate the problem. He explained how something would line up when the truck bed had some weight, but I can't fully remember. I would just butcher the explanation... Might be worth a shot though.

Edit: I drive a 6MT OR and have not had odd vibrations at any speed.

I have a Trailhunter with about 4K miles. This thread got me interested so I tested it at 80-90mph and no vibrations. Smooth as can be. But I also have 18” icon wheels with Ridge Grappler tires. So maybe it’s the crappy stock rims and tires

I have the stock wheels and no issues. And I’ve had Falkens and the OEM wranglers - neither vibrated at any speed

Yes. It would hit at full turn on bumps. Now get plenty clearance

I will update with more information as this progresses. As of today, I've been told to bring it to another service center to exhaust my options.
Not much help from Toyota other than throwing their hands in the air.

I doubt it's an excuse, more of a liability. If something happens and that employee gets in a wreck or even probably a ticket, it opens the dealership to litigation. That is, unfortunately, the world we live in. Dealers WANT to do warranty work. They get paid from Toyota for that work and is how they make their money. Sounds like an unbalanced tire. Probably right on the edge of tolerance, and maybe the dealership doesn't have the best equipment. Take it to somewhere with the newest Hunter equipment. If they diagnose a bad tire, Goodyear will stand by it and replace it. If it's a bad balance, it won't cost a bunch of money, but I would talk to Toyota corporate about reimbursement. I would be willing to bet, however, that even discount tire (or any other) will not drive the Truck over the speed limit.

I don't know, but do shops have rollers that a vehicle can be put on and run at any speed they desire, even high speeds? Would vibrations show up in this scenario?
