I imagine the ends are attached with a T slot nut. Which means you should be able to loosen the knob, then just rotate while the nuts stay in place. I would want to find a way to support/connect the lower section to the bed rail once lifted. I just got the basic mesh net for now. See if I want to update in the future
So I took the brackets out… took some photos. There is no way for that divider to pivot up or down. There’s no way for it to go anywhere other than slide in the bed rails either forward or back. I don’t care what the description says… the description had me doubting myself so much I went out to see if there was any way it could do what the description says - and the answer is absolutely not.

It 100% does not rotate. I saw another one online that does. Can’t remember the manufacturer.

Could you hypothetically drill a hole where the divider sits in the bracket to rotate 90 degrees?

Edit: It looks like the divider can be rotated 90d where it sits in the mount? And the bolt that screws in has a slot to go in on all 4 sides of the square bar?

Don’t think so - you’d be drilling into the “T” … and then it’d never slide into bed rails.

2024 Tacoma Toyota OEM Bed Cargo Divider for 2024 Tacoma 4th gen 1719427534691

The mount stays in the same position, the divider itself just rotates and mounts into the blue t slot?

There no way no how that I can see to make the divider pivot with the current brackets.

You’d have to dismantle the whole thing from the rails and drill and tap new holes.

It’s not something you could modify to have it rotate in place.

Not having one, that seems like a not so "easy" thing to do. @Sner I appreciate you going back and looking at all this. I'm still on the fence with what to do back there. Hopefully some aftermarket stuff comes out that's cheaper and more versatile.

No worries. I would have preferred something that flipped up for more versatility But this was available “now” and needed one, it’s not ridiculous to get it out when I need the full bed - If anyone does find one that flips up share the link!

I just picked up the OEM bed divider and it can be "positioned" horizontally but it's a PITA. You basically have to uninstall and then reinstall the whole thing again LOL.

The "easiest" way to accomplish this is to do it take the unit out completely, reposition the t-bolts, reattach the two sides that go into the bed rails and then "slide" the whole thing back in from the back horizontally (you have to take off the two plastic end caps from the rails first).

As of this writing, i see no real purpose for this "feature" because if you really needed to maximise space, you can just slide the divider all the way toward the cab (the divider is only about 2 inches deep) and if that's not enough, you might as well just take the divider out completely.

In theory, you can put cargo underneath the divider when its positioned horizontally. You can also theoretically attach things on top of the horizontally positioned divider but I would not put much weight on it because the whole thing is just held up by 2 small bolts.

I'm deciding on the bed divider and have two things giving me pause, hoping someone here can answer
1. Will this fit under a retractable tonneau cover? I have the syneticusa cover on. In other words, how high does this stick up above the bed rails? Some pictures show the hand knob on top, others show it on bottom - is that customizeable?

2. Is the divider actual Molle? I'm looking to use it as a mount for various things - I know bags/pouches will be fine because they are cloth and adjustable. But something like quick fists, has anyone tried that? I think this is preferable to the molle panels because then I won't have to drill into the bed, plus if I position it close to the end of the bed I won't have to climb up or dive over the side to access stuff.

Curious to know y'all's thoughts. Thanks in advance

It doesn’t stick above the rails for mine but I have the oem hard trifold which drops the rails about 3/4 l”

I don’t think you can put the knob on the bottom.

The knob is meant to be installed on the bottom thereby making the side mounts basically an U on each side that is able to slide along the track. The pictures on Toyota’s web pages are wrong. You don’t need to remove the side mounts off the rail every time you want to take the slide panel out if you do it per the instructions (attached below) which wasn’t provided with the box.

Instructions

You can remove the knobs and slide the T slot bolt and place it on any of the 4 sides of the divider. This is what they mean.

By the way, the OEM tri fold hard bed cover does relocate the bed rail so you’ll need to trim a hair shy of 1/2 inch on each side of the divider to get it to fit.

Swap your mounts so they’re U’s

I have the OEM soft cover and the bed divider works without any modifications.

If you have the OEM hard cover, you will need to trim the bed divider for it to work.
