Cut exhaust just past the rear resonator on 2024 Tacoma Limited

I have been waiting to make an exhaust modification giving the aftermarket and Toyota (TRD) time to release the TRD cat back system for 24+ Tacoma’s. There are also a few other players in the aftermarket that haven’t released anything yet.

Anyway while waiting for all that to happen, I decided that a reciprocating saw was my temporary answer to the ugly low hanging exhaust pipe.

It sounds pretty much the same since the resonator is retained. It is slightly deeper and slightly louder but just noticeably so.

I'm wondering if anyone has done a clean recording of original with resonator and then with the OEM trail dump.

I'm very curious what additional frequencies they were targeting with the resonator.

I am waiting on delivery and I bought the off-road dump because I don't want the direct side exhaust... But your making me pause and

When not using A/C, I always have the sliding rear window open for flow through ventilation. Does shortening the exhaust bring gases into truck?

I doubt it. I drive alot with the rear window open...all 4 windows and the sunroof in fact. I haven't noticed any smell, dizziness etc.

Can someone with acoustic knowledge/training help shed light on these graphs? Pulled them from a TacomaWorld post on with/without the resonator and trying to put it into context.
My layman view would appear to see that the resonator quiets the lower frequencies and works to make the sound curve more fluid, rather than lumpy. But, I don't know if that's a correct or incorrect interpretation of the data.

Acoustically, all the clips between the two that I have found or others have cited appear too short to get a good take on things. All of them immediate go to revving the engine all the way up.
