How many key fobs did you receive at delivery?

I received two fobs and the card with my truck, but only use the card for daily use. I keep the card on the outside of an Ekster Cardholder Pro. Works fine, but do find I need to keep the pocket with the wallet turned towards the door when locking/unlocking. Love not having to carry a fob.

Use the fob as a daily, it's a reasonable enough size and I prefer the extra functionality of having the buttons. The phone adds more annoyance and delay to the entire process. And yes, I'm the person laughing at you while you stand outside your car digging your phone out and having to take off your glove to open an app, tap a button, then wait for the command to go from your phone to Toyota to a radio tower to your truck.

I find the card nice for when I want to slim down my wallet for a night out or when one is more dressed up and I don't need or want the extra functions or bulk for a few hours.

As others mentioned, you can put fob and card batteries to 'sleep' if you want. And if either dies, you have a physical key to enter the vehicle and you hold the dead fob or key against the start button until the dash tells you it's recognized and you can push to start.

Actually, I thought the same thing you wrote above, that you have to actually dig out your phone, open the app, use the buttons in the app, wait for the signal.

That's only true if you want to use any of the functions like remote start, climate, tailgate, etc.

If you want to lock, unlock or start the truck, the phone works EXACTLY the same as the card. You don't need to take the phone out of your pocket or bag. The digital key works via bluetooth which I realized after getting into this thread and digging some more into the functionality.

However, there's one catch, you have to have the app OPEN on your phone. As long as the app is open/running, you use the door handle to lock/unlock and can start the truck just by having the phone inside (no fob or card necessary and no having to use the buttons in the app and the delay).

This changes my mind a little about the use case of the card/phone combo. Between the two you could do everything you need and only need to go into the app for extended functions, and you'd have the physical key in the card as a backup in case both the card and your phone are dead.

What I want to test is whether having the app open on your phone and constantly looking for your truck will affect the phone battery, which I suspect it might. You'd also have to make sure you remember to always keep the app running on your phone.

On the other hand, I'd lose the quick access to the fob button functions of remote start & tailgate, and I'm one of those people who like to give my fob button an extra press or two while I'm walking away just to be sure my truck is locked and like to unlock when I'm approaching my vehicle, not wait to grab the handle. Old habits.

I know I only got two keys from the dealer but I got mine preowned, think there could be a way to get the card thing? Unless it is a premium thing because I just have an SR5

I've also got an SR5 (but new) and got two keys plus the card.
