Anyone over 5,000 miles do a 3rd party oil change? And have a good experience? I really never have time to get it into the dealer or ever want to deal with their service people. I could really use some help here I need service done in right under 5,000.

I did on my previous Taco from time to timeā€“I'm not a fan of doing it in the dead of winter, so I fall off the wagon once in a while. You need to find a place you trust.

I've always found doing it myself to be more convenient. Was going to have the dealer do the first one at the 5000 mi checkup because, well, I was feeling lazy. But they didn't notice it on my service request, so I ended up doing it myself. Took me about an hour because of fighting with the lower engine covers. Would you believe that they won't go on upside down! šŸ˜
Poor design man.

Same here. Do it on my own. It's just more convenient.

I have already done 2 oil changes at home. (3200 km on my Sport) I will have the first and only warranty oil change done by the dealership when it is due. From then on I will take responsibility. Dealership has it on record that I do my own and they are good with it- warrantywise and such. Always have done my own for 55 years- 32 of them on toyotas. I take pride in my vehicles- dealerships ( and others) donā€™t seem to really care. My thoughts anyways.

Another always change my own oil guy here. I will do my own, probably two of them, and then get one from the dealer at 10k miles. Cold nasty weather is the only time I take it to someone, and I just hope to be able to schedule them around that, which is pretty easy now that I live in Virginia.
