What does shipping have to do with tire pressures? Maybe if they were filled with helium, it would be easier on the truck haulers.:ROFLMAO:

When they strap them down, they don't want the tires getting squashed flat and possibly damaged so they overinflate them. I've been told that this was more important when shipping vehicles overseas but I guess they do it for truck shipments too.

Get them with the survey. One bad thing on the survey even if it's about dirty bathrooms will kill his commission and bonuses that he racked up for the quarter.
I did it once inadvertently because the finance manager was the biggest a hole in the world.
The sales guy texted me crying for costing him thousands in his bonuses and asked what did he do wrong.
I didn't understand that a bad mark on the survey for any reason goes against the sales guy. I wrote to the general manager and Chevrolet about that. The general manager thanked me because I did praise the sales guy who was a great guy. Never heard from Chevrolet about it.
and no response on the survey is just as good as a good survey.
And also, a bad survey costs them their holdback money which is about a grand or so

I got my truck last month. Don't recall any survey. Is that something that's mailed to you?

this is all BS. The pressure in the tires should be caught during the pre-delivery inspection. No one has an excuse. This is a service department fail, and they need to be pointed out.
Well, got the PDI from service manager and of course tire pressure box was checked. Which tells me that there could be much more on that list that is checked off but really wasn’t actually inspected. Lost trust in that service department.

Pencil whipped. Not surprising.

You will find almost all PDI’s are pencil whipped. I used to work for a Peterbilt dealership and they got paid 4 hours labor for doing a PDI on a class 8 truck. The guy assigned to do them most days would “knock out “ 5 in a 8 hour shift and was always first in last out on all breaks and lunch. Also he didn’t own a large torque wrench needed for checking lug nuts and suspension components as part of PDI. He logic and the company’s was warranty would take care of anything he missed on the PDI and this 4 hours labor helped the company when the OEM didn’t pay enough on a warranty claim later on. The customer was the one who was missing out. Was a great day when I left that dealership as work ethics were not their thing. As a professional mechanic I have a hard time trusting the workmanship of any dealership. I know there are many great dealership mechanics out there but the stress and pressures from management cause many to not do the right thing at times.

My dealer adjusted the air pressure in my truck's tires from the shipping pressure to 37 psi. Although I thought it drove fine I reduced it to 32 psi yesterday and may take it down to the 30 called for later on. I often run just a bit over the recommended pressure, but only by a psi or two.

This seems to be one that a lot of dealers overlook. Dealerships often over inflate tires at service visits so clueless customers don't call and whine when the pressure drops on cold days. Like pretty much everything else, you need to be involved if you want stuff to go well.

Here's why tires are way over inflated when delivered to customers. ( The PDI didn't catch it).

A friend and I bought from two different dealers. His TRD Sport and my OR both had 48 PSI tires. Dropped them to 35 and enjoyed the ride a lot more. Guess we should have complained, but just fixed it it.

Mine were at 50 but I just drove it home the 50 miles and fixed them after I got home. There was a few things that they didn’t do but just said screw it il just take care of everything once I’m home. Dealer is too far away for service so figured I’d never go back

Soooo thanks to great forums like this, I read the Tacoma’s come in with over-inflated (50 psi) for shipping purposes and a bunch of you guys said before you drive off check psi. Welp in all the excitement I forgot. Get home to see I’m at 50 psi. I text my sales dude about it and see attached. My local tire guy said NO that’s too much.

Do yourself a favour. Don’t talk to that guy again. Ever. About anything.

There is a PDI checklist, if you really want to bust their chops, ask to see it.
I had my PDI sent to me before I took delivery. Everything had been checked ✔ even options the truck didn’t have. I brought a gauge and air the tires down from 50 psi in front of the sales person. Then I insisted they bring the the truck back to service and check the diffentials and transmission fluid levels.

I wasn’t present so who knows but I left with the “service” record. Awful
