Change, jealousy, success envy?????As a 2024 Tacoma owner I don’t understand the hate that this generation of truck gets. Previously I drove a 2021 f150 with the 3.5l and 10 speed automatic. This is my first midsize truck. The 8 speed automatic is a night and day difference compared to the 10 speed, I’ve never missed a shift and the 2.4l is very responsive and doesn’t feel underpowered. I’ve never driven a 3rd gen Tacoma however I have always heard that the main gripe with those trucks were the outdated materials and lack of power. It seems that this generation has addressed both concerns and provided a smoother transmission. If ford can make a 2.7 l eco boost that lasts upwards of 200k miles why are some assuming that the 2.4l will not also meet or exceed that mark? I feel that Toyota still makes the best midsize pickup and I am happy with my purchase. (Besides the trailer brake controller issue that is a huge pain in the ass)
Our long and much comparison shopping clearly showed it is good against the competition. My 4th gen doesn't in any way make my past Toyotas bad but it is superior in some important ways.
I'm not a fan of the mean look a lot of current vehicles have but would not give up new vehicle features, performance and safety.
Some criticism is silly to me in this way. It is not like Toyota hasn't had some design, manufacturing and customer support experience. They're only the biggest automaker, and this line is a top seller with good reputation.
