I think our trucks do come with a trans cooler, albeit it's a coolant-to-fluid transfer block. It's actually more for getting the trans up to temp, rather than cooling it down, but can in theory provide some cooling if trans temps exceed coolant temps.

Nonetheless, I did see there were some companies working on dedicated transmission coolers specifically for our trucks. Not sure if anything has actually hit the market, but it may be an worthwhile upgrade for those that tow frequently.

Hey thanks very much for this. Exactly the spot where my local NS off-raod guys were going to install it. I'll wait for these guys in the link to come out with something, as a fan would obviously make sense as well.

Is there a way to know actually how many trucks are affected with the transmission failures or what percentage? Thanks.

Call toyota and ask them. They won't tell you though.

Should one be concerned about the AL80F transmission in the 2025's...? I'd hope Toyota has resolved the issue in current production

Knock on wood, I haven't had any issues, and my Tacoma was built in February 2024, so under this TSB. It has over 16K miles on it.

Looks like I got bit by the tranny bug. Just passed 12k miles on my TH. No warning signs of impending doom. Was on the freeway cruising along, then sudden violent jerking and the engine cut out. Pulled over and restarted the engine and limped to a service center. Iā€™m over 200 miles away from home on an important work trip. Not sure what to do. May have to find a rental because I think they are gonna recommend towing it back to my local dealer. Weā€™ll seeā€¦

I donā€™t know. Just guessing. They arenā€™t even sure they can look at it today since I donā€™t have an appointment.

Funny story, when I walked in and started telling them the problem they acted like they had never heard of anything like this before. Then they got me confused with another guy who just came in with his ā€˜24 Taco having the exact same problem. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

oof that sucks. seems to be happening more and more. Does the VIN range still seem accurate, or has anyone run into trouble that is not in the TSB's effected VINs?
